The Youth Mental Health Worker will have the ability to perform numerous duties in a complex multi-disciplinary team setting as it pertains to the health and wellness of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation youth. The Youth Mental Health Worker will support and advocate on behalf of all young people facing welfare, behavioral, developmental, social, and protection issues. The Youth Mental Health Worker will work with young people on an individual or group basis, offering practical and emotional support and helping them to develop skills to make positive changes in their lives. The Youth Mental Health Worker will plan and facilitate programs to address the issues young people face, including: building self-esteem, confidence, family conflict, homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, sex and relationships. The Youth Mental Health Worker will provide basic counselling, intervention and risk assessments. However, for complex or specific issues the Youth Mental Health worker will refer their client to other professional services. Holistic World View will be employed into all levels of work. What we are looking for: Mandatory - Trades licence in any mechanical trade with a preference on Industrial Millwright through a valid apprenticeship program. (May consider a registered Industrial Millwright apprentice.) - Class 4 certification in Water Treatment, Class 2 in Water Distribution and Supply, Class 2 in Wastewater Treatment and Class 2 in Wastewater Collection would be preferred. - Alternatively, a 2-year diploma/degree/certificate from a recognized Canadian college or university in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or equivalent trade school. - A lesser qualified candidate may be considered as an underfill minimum Operator-in-Training (OIT), as specified in O.Reg. 128/04 of the Safe Drinking Water Act and O.Reg. 129/04 of the Ontario Water Resources Act. - Should a successful applicant be employed as an underfill Operator, he/she will be required to write and pass the required Class 1 certification exams within 90 days from their start date. Knowledge - Good knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes to operate the facilities. - Working experience/knowledge of the skilled trades for the maintenance and repair of a variety of equipment and structures, including, but not limited to, the following skills: basic electrical repair, welding, plumbing, millwright, gasfitting and steamfitting HVAC and general facility maintenance. - Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulatory and legislative acts, codes, policies, guidelines and procedures related to water and wastewater operations and maintenance, including health and safety procedures/WHMIS. - Knowledge of basic mathematics and chemistry to make calculations for chemical and operating processes. - Ability to interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints and other technical specifications, including use and storage of industrial chemicals. - Familiarity with computers, including monitoring and operating systems. - Familiarity with predictive maintenance techniques such as vibration analysis, oil analysis and thermal imaging. Skills and Ability include - Analytical, problem solving and planning skills to perform major equipment overhauls, routine and preventive maintenance, carry out repairs and perform a variety of maintenance tasks, resolve maintenance and operational issues, and take samples of the water chemicals to make process control adjustments. - Organizational skills to lead extensive maintenance and repair projects. - Good oral and written communication skills to liaise with a variety of people, including coworkers, clients, suppliers, while keeping accurate logs and writing reports. - Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative. - Ability to perform manual labour.
